How Can You Buy CBD Oil Without Getting Ripped Off? There are many reasons to be cautious when buying CBD, especially with so many new players rushing to cash in on the boom.
Research about 84 CBD products sold online revealed that a staggering number — nearly 70 percent — were mislabeled: 40 percent had significantly more CBD than advertised, while 26 percent had significantly less. (13) About 20 percent of the tested products also had a significant จำนวนเงิน of THC, enough to show up on a drug test and possibly cause intoxication or impairment.
How Safe Is CBD Oil?
While more research on the myriad effects of CBD is needed, the medical consensus is that CBD is quite safe. Indeed, a report issued by the World Health Organization in November 2017 states, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. … To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” (14)
“CBD by itself appears to be relatively safe,” agrees Dr. Hill. “But a relatively safe substance can be dangerous if labels are not accurate or if patients elect to use CBD to treat medical conditions instead of first- or second-line treatments with far more evidence.”
Importantly, using poor-quality CBD can trigger troubling, dangerous consequences. The U.S. Army, for example, issued a public health alert in April 2018 after some 60 patients were seen at medical centers at two Army bases in North Carolina for health problems linked to tainted CBD vape oils. (15) Symptoms ranged from dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, and palpitations to confusion, disorientation, agitation, and seizures.
Otherwise, an overview of the possible side effects of CBD published in 2017 noted only three common ones: (16)
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea
- Changes in appetite and weight
Still, that doesn’t mean CBD will be well-tolerated in everyone — only that so far, no major problems have surfaced. Widespread use is still in its early stages, prompting that same study, which was commissioned by the European Industrial Hemp Association, to note that “important toxicological parameters are yet to be studied, for example, if CBD has an effect on hormones. Additionally, more clinical trials with a greater number of participants and longer chronic CBD administration are still lacking.” What’s more, the report said, “studies that evaluate whether CBD-drug interactions occur in clinical trials have to be performed.”
CBD’s use with animals is another area of focus. More than 90 percent of veterinarians said they’ve been asked about potential uses of CBD, a survey found. (17) And CBD pet-and-animal products are one of the fastest-growing sectors in the CBD market.
